What We Do
“I was hungry and you fed me…”
—Jesus in Matthew 25:35
Our namesake is from Kentucky's native son and premier outdoorsman, Daniel Boone.
He once stated that his biggest achievement in life, and he had many, was baptizing each of his 10 children.
At Boone Brothers we believe and we are bothered by the reality that--HUNGRY children become ANGRY adults. When basic needs are not met in childhood, they can lead to detrimental behavior patterns in adulthood. By feeding children, we want to diminish the likelihood of teenage pregnancy, drug abuse, incarceration rates, and suicide in our communities.
The Boone Brothers App provides healthy Biblical content to nourish adults. It's our primary communications tool to guide hunters towards the bullseye of feeding hungry children across the state of Kentucky.
Through a partnership with Kentucky Fish & Wildlife, we process and package venison (deer meat) into a delicious form of jerky (Boone Bites) that are protein rich and do not need to be refrigerated. The Boone Bites are dropped off at local elementary schools and distributed by the teachers who understand the nutritional challenges of the students in their classrooms.
Deer are an abundant natural resource and the herd needs to be managed to strike a balance between food for people and food for wildlife. So this ministry benefits children and farmers primarily, but also keeps the deer population from dying of starvation and sickness. To put it in perspective--Every deer you donate generates 150-200 well-packaged pieces of deer jerky. If you and your friends each donate two deer each season, we can feed most of the hungry children in our state.
Here’s how you can help
Hunt
Purchase extra doe tags each season and donate the field dressed deer to participating processors across the state.
Pray
Pray for the children who receive the protein to know that God is expressing his love to them through the adults in the state of Kentucky.
Donate
Consider a financial contribution to our ministry efforts.
Deliver
Join a delivery team to drop off Boone Bites to local schools as well as some encouragement gifts to Kentucky teachers.
Share
Encourage your friends and family members to download the app and get involved.
